“Innovation in construction” Conference, Brussles

The conference,  being the first event of the kind, took place on 21^st October, and was a part of the Action Plan for the “Strategy for the sustainable competitiveness of the construction sector and its enterprises”. The aim was to show that the only way to overcome financial downturn, skills mismatches, and an ageing workforce is to work together – it is the only possible way to achieve sustainable competitiveness. The conference started with discussing the meaning of innovation for the construction sector. What followed, were the three parallel panels, each of them focused on a different issue. The first session presented the topic of “Dialogue between actors – towards a common reference framework in construction”, the second concentrated on educating and making the construction a desired profession, and the third was devoted to the issue of promoting the life-cycle thinking. The conference closed with the discussion concerning the structural changes that might be implemented due to innovation. During the event, a competition for the best poster was held; before the prize was granted, all of the poster were displayed on the exhibition.
