On the 26th of June Marshall Mieczysław Struk met Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn in Brussels. The main focus of the meeting were EU investments in the Pomorskie Region in the past and future financial perspective. Marshall and Commissioner discussed among others Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway and extension of the airport in Gdansk, which was accepted by the European Commission in April this year. Commissioner Hahn was also interested in the matter of airport in Gdynia.

 

The conversation also included Regional Operational Programme for the Pomorskie Voivodeship for the period 2014-2020, which was handed over to the Commission on the 9th of April 2014. Marshall expressed a wish that the final version of the Programme will be established until October this year – before Commissioner’s Hahn term ends. Marshall also encouraged Commissioner to visit Pomerania to see how the region changed thanks to European funding. Commissioner praised the project of Pomeranian ROP and expressed hope that the negotiations about the Programme will go smoothly and without delays.

 

During his stay in Brussels, Marshall participated also in the Plenary Session of the Commitee of the Regions held on 25-26 June.
