On Tuesday 30th August on the square of the Station Luxembourg in Brussels held a ceremony to name the “Solidarity 1980” extending along the Avenue of the European Parliament.

Procedures and negotiations with authorities, leading Brussels to give espalades around the PE name “Solidarity 1980” lasted nearly two years. It is a tribute to the contribution of the Polish “Solidarity” in the transformation and unification of Europe.

30th Ceremony August will feature among others, by their presence such personalities as: Jerzy Buzek, European Parliament President, Lech Walesa, the first chairman of the “Solidarity”, the former Polish President, and Piotr Duda, current leader of “Solidarity”. The event will also attend the former Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok union activist in the 80s in Europe, carrying the support of Solidarity and the Polish underground current Director of the European Solidarity Centre Basil Kerski.
