The 16-hectare Millenium Park in the city of Chojnice was chosen the best adapted urban space at the 2013 edition of the “Best Public Space in the Pomorskie Region” contest. The park, which used to be a highly desolated area, is located near the city centre. The adaptation process was conducted in stages, and included installing the solar energy system, as well as building the botanic garden. In their verdict, the competition jury highlighted the multifunctionality and high esthetical value of the project. The transport node in Tczew and the restored park in Dzierzgoń were awarded 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively. The event took place on 22nd November, during the “Smart Metropolia” Congress in Gdańsk.

The award, with the support form the Marshal of the region, Mieczysław Struk, has been granted annually since 2006, and its main goal is to promote examples of successful adaptation of the public space; it is also a way of acknowledging those cities and gminas which are not afraid of taking up the challenge of creating new, high-quality places for the citizens to use.
