Marshal’s Office of Gdansk took the second place in the tenth anniversary edition of the annual competition for the prize of Ulysses for innovation in tourism in the category “Innovation in public policy and management” award by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO ) .
Prizes to the winners handed UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai at the gala, which was held in Madrid on January 22, on the occasion of FITUR tourism fair.
The World Tourism Organization has appreciateed the Pomeranian province for the creation and implementation of the Integrated Tourist Information portal covering pomorskie.travel, interactive system built in maps and a network of 245 informers.
United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO ) annually selects the best projects, taking into account their innovation and application of knowledge in the tourism sector.
UNWTO Awards, created by the World Tourist Organization, are the most important prizes for the global travel industry. Each year this award is to present innovations and emphasize the importance of knowledge in the tourism sector. This award has a huge impact on the international tourist industry, and its winners set the direction of tourism development in the coming years.
The project Integrated Tourist Information System, executed by Marshal’s Office was able to implement a completely new, unique and highly innovative initiative which is interactive tourist information system – the main component of the project.
The implementation has been designed from scratch and is now managed by a team of Department of Tourism and Promotion. The project is supported by, among others, pomorskie.travel, having unique features interactive portal image – Pomeranian region, which allows you to present a creative space in the Pomeranian region on a global scale.
